Ziggy…you did your homework. The chance that this thing will create a micro black hole is ridiculously small. I can’t remember the exact figure, but it was something like one out of a hundred and fifty million. The chance that the micro black hole will swallow up the world is even more ridiculous. It would almost instantaneously dissipate and wouldn’t be able to absorb enough matter to stay alive or survive long enough for its slow descent to the center of the earth.

Oh Really? you are retarded. Theoretical science is about a billion times more reliable than your idiotic unreliable misleading statements. We have a GOOD IDEA of what will happen.

Doing anything AT ALL has a huge amount unknown variables. For all you knew, when you stepped out of your house this morning there could’ve been a huge buff gay guy about to rape you on your doorstep. You walk out because the chance of that is incredibly small…or you enjoy it. In the case of the first one you rule out the possibility either because of a desire not to live your life in fear of events out of your control or simple practicality. Or you just don’t give a shit.

Anyway, what Ziggy said (post n.14) is correct. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is supposed to prove the validity of the Big Bang Theory. It’s various sensors are also supposed to determine whether a certain subatomic particle (called Graviton) “disappears”, so to speak, after the collission of two specific particles: this would be a ground-breaking proof of parallel universes, since (as Michio Kaku once said) the absence of the Graviton would imply that “it went somewhere else”… in another dimension. (just check his interview on Youtube: “Michio Kaku on String Theory”).

Surely, the LHC has many more purposes that the two previously mentioned but, since I don’t work at CERN, I have no clue what they are.

P.S. Forgive my non-technical approach on this matter, but I’m not a Physicist.

If you’re going to leave comments… Please have at least an inkling of proper grammar and spelling. It is extremely frustrating to read posts that I can barely comprehend. If you want to express an opinion, be rational and research a bit deeper into it before you overreact. Some of these posts are stupid. Plain and simple.

Oh really? Because this is totally NOT based on theoretical science, and we know EXACTLY how this is going to pan out, what a black hole or other spatial anomaly will do when created, etc.

We have absolutely NO IDEA what will happen. Yes, it could be perfectly harmless. Yes, it could cause a chain reaction that destroys the planet.

I believe in advancing the human race via science, but performing an experiment with so many dangerous variables, with the experiment based purely on theory, I think more research should be done.

The LHC is a machine about 40 miles long in a circular shape that sends two beams of protons around the tube until they reach 99.8% of the speed of light and then collide. Hopefully, this will let insight on what happened in the first seconds of the big bang. The reason this is funny is that stupid people are screaming, “ITS GONNA CAUSE A BLACK HOLE STUPID SCIENTISTS!”. Well no. The scale we are doing would be too small to cause a black hole and even if it did it would be a small black hole the size of a pinhead and then shortly dissapear. So everyone that is worried…stop screaming and causing chaos because your all just a bunch of f-tards that listen to what the news tells them.

The collider is real. It is the largest scientific experiment in the world. It was started up earlier this year (2009). The world has not ended because of it yet, and if it does i doubt we’ll have the time to worry about it. People are too often scared of what they don’t understand.
